Build an Online Store
eCommerce Website Design
The technology of eCommerce stores has exploded in recent years and is showing no signs of slowing down. On top of our small business website design services, we also design and build fully-functioning eCommerce stores.
These can be simple stores that display products and take fulfillment offline, or stores linked to payment gateways and shipping options. If you need an eCommerce store, we’ll help you take the concept from idea to reality.
On top of an eCommerce website representing your brand and product as a typical website does, it also serves as a live storefront for your product or products.
It contains a database to house all of your product information, software for users to search and sort, a Cart and Checkout system, and of course a payment gateway so customers can buy your products.
On top of this, there is the back-end fulfillment system that will help you process orders as well as ship and deliver products to your customers.
eCommerce Website Design Pricing
Building an eCommerce website can get fairly complex and can be more difficult to customize due to the template-driven nature of some of the pages, so we only recommend eCommerce websites for people who already have established businesses, not for hobbyists.
A typical eCommerce website build ranges from $3,500 to $10,000, depending on the number of products, functionality needed, etc. We have experience with both WooCommerce for WordPress as well as the Shopify platform. Both have their pros and cons, so we’ll be happy to talk to you about each one.

eCommerce Website Examples
Be Still and Grow Microgreens
Susie Themer is a native of Lanesville, Indiana, where I grew up as a kid. She approached me with a need to build a simple eCommerce site that would help her sell her microgreen products online.

We guided her through the entire process, such as hosting setup, payment setup, banking configuration, content creation, product organization, and more.
We also custom designed a theme to fit her brand colors, and set up a fully functioning eCommerce checkout and order management system for her.
This simple e-commerce site is elegant, yet powerful, accepting credit cards, checks, cash on delivery, and allowing Susie to manage all of her order fulfillment online.

Terry Spangler Dunham
Terry Dunham is a local Louisville, KY artist. She wanted to showcase her work online in order to better present it to get into art galleries, and to also tell the story of each work more easily.

We worked together to organize all of her products into a logical hierarchy, then re-sized and compressed all of the images to work correctly on the web.
We built the structure she had in mind, priced all of the items, added dimensions, and trained her how to update the product descriptions.
This simple e-commerce site takes advantage of the description field in WooCommerce to handle order fulfillment offline. This allows Terry to sell her work online without having to mess with the sometimes tricky world of payment processing and shipping.

Ready Set Prep’d
Ready Set Prep’d is a weekly meal prep service designed to provide busy individuals with access to healthy, pre-portioned and thoughtfully curated meals that fit into a number of diets and lifestyles.

Ready Set Prep’d is a website that we rebuilt and rethemed from an existing WordPress + WooCommerce installation that was getting outdated and unstable.
This project involved working closely with the owner to identify issues they were facing, finding a new theme that fit their current branding, and rebuilding the front-end of the website from scratch to fit their needs. We also removed over a dozen plugins that were no longer needed, and upgraded them to the latest version of the WordPress builder.
This blossoming business relies heavily on its eCommerce website working well, and we were thrilled to have the opportunity to support their business.

Paul Reynolds Originals
Paul Reynolds is a local artist in Louisville, KY. He approached us with a need to elegantly display his artwork online, while also being able to sell it in a platform he could use himself.
We set him up with a WordPress + WooCommerce installation, with several customizations that allowed him to display his products exactly as he wanted.
We used a variety of plugins to accomplish several features, such as a side view cart, custom sorting, simple contact form, USPS shipping from within WordPress, and more.
Since this website is so image-heavy, we had to keep performance in mind. It operates using aggressive caching, AWS for image management, and lossless image compression.
The result is a simple and elegant, yet extremely powerful e-commerce website where he can display his work and sell it to a digital audience at the same time.
