Will Robertson of Robertson Crushed Stone started Robertson Ready-Mix as a complementary business to an already successful local staple of the area. He contacted us with the need for a high-quality website for a new business selling ready-mix. For new businesses, the startup budget is often small, so it doesn’t make a lot of sense to contact a large agency with huge overhead for a website. Four Barrel Fitness is an elite strength and conditioning facility in New Albany, IN.

We have been working with Four Barrel since the beginning of their business in 2013. As businesses evolve, so do their marketing and website needs. Recently, we had the opportunity to upgrade and redesign the 4B website from the ground up.

We installed an entirely new framework to replace an aging system, removed several plugins that were no longer needed or becoming outdated, simplified their homepage for a more streamlined approach, and increased the performance of the site vs the previous version. Bannon Bridge

Bannon Bridge is a pet cremation operation located in the Fairdale part of Louisville, KY. They use a process called aquamation to cremate pets, which is far more environmentally-friendly and humane for.

Bannon Bridge contacted us with the need to build a brand new website for their new business. Four Seasons Landscape Management

Four Seasons Landscape Management is a Louisville, KY area Landscape Management and Design company providing full lawn care and landscape services to the Louisville area and surrounding communities.

They approached us with a need to work on the SEO of their website, as well as increasing its performance and simplifying a heavy software mix that was being used throughout the site that had built up over time.

We stripped out quite a bit of the old software and plugins, including many that were outdated and throwing errors, and set them up with a modern theme and framework from Studiopress.

We also beefed up their security using two-factor authentication and Google CAPTCHA V3 and set them up on AWS Cloudfront for performance optimization.

Lastly, we fully rebuilt all of the pages using the native WordPress builder and Atomic Blocks, which integrates perfectly with WordPress. This reduced the size of the website by 75% and increased the performance greatly.

Hibben Knives

Gil and Linda Hibben of Hibben Knives are legends in the business and art of knifemaking. They have been in business for over 60 years. Their knives have been featured in countless movies and TV shows, including the Rambo franchise, Star Trek, The Expendables, and more.

Linda Hibben contacted us with the need to update an aging website that sadly had been abandoned by their former webmaster, through no fault of their own. This rendered many pieces of it useless, and they could not conduct business how they needed to. Not only did they need to rebuild a new website, but they also needed to recover thousands of images of their knifemaking history over the last 60 years. It would have been devastating to lose all of these images. Our goal was to recover everything we could and to rebuild that into a new website that was reorganized, decluttered, and would once again allow them to sell their products online effectively.

Since we had no guidance from their previous webmaster, we had to unravel the technology the previous website was using, connect all of the dots with how the domain was configured, and figure out how the website was built. The first thing we needed to do was get into their old webserver and dig through hundreds of directories over FTP. We were finally able to locate all of the images, which we then organized into albums on the new website. We then had to track down how their DNS information was set up, their email system, and their credit card processing.

Once we had all of these puzzle pieces, we put it all together using WordPress + WooCommerce to build them a fully functioning eCommerce website that would also act as a work of art to display their company history.

This project was the heaviest we’ve ever done in terms of the massive amount of photos the Hibbens have of their creations. We created over 100 photo albums of their various works of art throughout dozens of different pages. It was a challenge, but also a great pleasure having a small part in this legendary piece of Louisville history.

Kirstie at Declutter Lover came to us with a business idea to help people organize and declutter their homes through her passion for personal organization She had been doing this on the side for years, but when the opportunity arose to make this a full-fledged business, she needed a professional website to display her work and generate leads for her business.

Restart a Heart CPR

Paula at Restart a Heart CPR came to us with the need to upgrade a website that had been built on GoDaddy’s free website builder, which can be a good way to get started, but is difficult to build a fully-functioning website with.

We got to work by first installing WordPress on our hosting environment and porting over her existing content and features. Since this wasn’t a migration, the content was built from scratch using the WordPress editor. From there, we refreshed the design, worked with her to create her first logo, and added call-to-action features throughout the website.

Human Soundcheck

Human Soundcheck provides holistic and bio-energetic healing services as well as spirituality and mindset life coaching. Their previous website had grown stale and out of date. They needed to freshen up their content and redesign it in the process.

We originally began working with their current theme by request, but quickly realized it wasn’t going to work with new versions of WordPress, and was very clunky and inefficient to operate.

We had to pivot on this project to tear down the old theme and rebuild the content on a new framework. We did this by copying the site to a temporary environment, ripping out all of the old software, and rebuilding everything from scratch.

Pinehurst Neighborhood Association

The National Property Owner’s Association is the HOA for the famous Pinehurst Association of neighborhoods in North Carolina. After doing a project for a close colleague of theirs, they approached us with the need to clean up and organize their dated neighborhood website.

This was a great opportunity to work with an out-of-state client. While most of our work comes from the Louisville, KY area, we’re happy to work remotely as well.

We began the project by combing through dozens of pages of information that had gotten out of whack over the last 10+ years of multiple people running the website. This was a heavy research project to figure out what was what and put it in a logical order.

Once we got through that, we implemented a new simple theme to modernize the website and apply the new organizational hierarchy to it.

After that, we fixed several errors on the site and eventually migrated it to our own web hosting (yes we do that too) due to theirs being well out of date and far too expensive for what it was.

We also saved them some money on services they were paying for which they weren’t utilizing.

My World Travel

My World Travel is owned by Katie, Kubitskey, a local travel consultant in Louisville, KY. We had been helping her maintain and update her website for around a year when her software began to become outdated and in need of replacing. We helped her with this and performed a major simplification and many upgrades along the way.

We redesigned Katie’s website from the ground up, stripping out all of the old outdated page builder software and replacing it with native WordPress software. Kentucky Title Services

Kentucky Title Services is a group of Louisville Real Estate Professionals providing closing and title services to the Louisville, KY area.

They came to us needing a website built from scratch to represent their brand and the services they provide. They also needed to be able to collect customer information online to kick off the title ordering process without cumbersome paperwork.

We helped them out by building a WordPress environment in their existing hosting setup, unraveling some messy redirects and aliases that were set up to a different domain, and worked with several members of their team to build everything they needed from the ground up. We also updated their Google My Business profile to have the most up to date information about their firm, boosting their search engine presence in the process.

The result is an elegant and informative website that also functions as a lead generator and streamlines a key part of their business.

Zielke Law Firm

Zielke Law Firm is a small law practice operating in the Louisville, KY area. They came to us with a need to modernize a website that had gotten out of date over time, as well as a need to update their back end technology.

We set them up with a new web hosting environment to match their goals, and updated their website with a new, fresh design to showcase their attorneys and areas of practice.

We also integrated mapping functionality to allow their customers and potential customers to more easily navigate to their location.

Robyn Davis Sekula

Robyn Davis Sekula is a local PR and Marketing Consultant in Louisville, Kentucky. Robyn approached us with an old website that a friend built for her in the 2000s, which is the case with quite a few of our clients. She needed an upgrade to more elegantly represent her brand.

On top of a new and modern design for her services, Robyn also wanted a re-organization of the content on her website. We were able to accomplish this by sitting down and thinking through her main service offerings and what she wanted to communicate about each one, then organizing these into navigation that made sense for her users.

We also had the pleasure of working with Louisville, KY area photographer Anna May, on this project for the stunning imagery featured throughout. These beautiful photos were a major focal point of the project in order to represent Robyn’s brand.

Four R Solutions

Four R Solutions is a Diesel Engine Solutions provider specializing in crankshafts, cylinder blocks, camshafts and diesel engine cores. They provide new, used, surplus, remanufactured, and aftermarket diesel engine parts.

They needed a simple website that would showcase their inventory and help them appear in search engines for the part numbers they offer. They also needed a more modern design and wanted to beef up their security to keep their website safe and free of spam (always a good idea).

We installed and configured a premium WordPress theme, reorganized their content, beefed up their security through the use of WordPress security software, and built several searchable tables containing their part numbers for SEO. We also submitted their business to Google Business in order to get them listed in their category.

Stony Brook Animal Hospital

Stony Brook Animal Hospital is a veterinarian in Louisville, KY offering several services to the tri-state area.

They approached us when their old web host was raising their rates well beyond the value they were receiving. On top of hooking them up their our Small Business Hosting, we also built a new website for them in the process.

This site included over 20 pages with descriptions of their services, as well as a few forms they needed for their business operations. Additionally, we set them up with SEO, security, and performance optimizations to keep their site running well.

Select Landscapes

Select Landscapes is a landscape design and lawn care company that operates in the Louisville, KY area. They had a need for a very simple website that explained the company history, listed their services, showcased some of their projects, established trust with their brand, and allowed people to get in touch with them. They also wanted the website to be mobile and tablet friendly.

Through a combination of photo gallery plugins, contact form software, and some basic copywriting, we worked together to create a simple and elegant website that will work on any internet-enabled device very well that they are very proud of.

Samtec Cares

Samtec Cares is a division of Samtec focused on supporting non-profits in the local communities where Samtec officies operate.

This needed to be a separate microsite from the corporate site with it’s own branding and functionality.

To streamline their grant process, the entire process was digitized using a robust online application. This includes many features such as validations, confirmations, saving progress, and much more.

Samtec Cares used this website to distribute over $500,000 in their initial grant cycle, and aim to provide over $1 million each year to the causes it supports.

Kids Care Academy

Kids Care Academy is an early childhood development center located in New Albany, Indiana. They approached me with the need to display their brand prominently and proudly online, while keeping maintenance to a minimum. They also desired the ability to easily display calendar events and News about their business on their website.

This project was actually pretty sophisticated and was definitely more than a typical ‘Simple Website’ project would normally entail, but I was able to work with them to make it happen.

Through a combination of Google Apps, WordPress blogging functionality, and a few software plugins, we accomplished their goals and their business is thriving ever since.

The Samtec Blog

Samtec is a global electronics manufacturer. They needed a simple blog for content marketing and product updates. We used a very simple theme with some of their own custom graphics to create a very simple blog.

While this is a fairly simple setup, it pulls in hundreds of thousands of visitors every year is very effective and powerful for increasing brand awareness and establishing expertise in new markets for them.

This is the perfect example of an efficient and simple marketing tool that doesn’t have to be expensive to develop.

Academy Success

AcademySuccess.com is a side project of mine. I started this website in early 2012. Its main purpose is to spread the word of being a more effective person through several key areas of personal development. It’s different from a lot of local sites that I help within that it operates in a global market. The main traffic generating asset of Academy Success is the blog, which builds traffic through SEO and other forms of content marketing.

Because of the global nature of Academy Success, it implements several performance enhancements such as combined styles and scripting, a fully integrated content delivery network, aggressive server-side caching, and many custom-built lead generation and engagement features that help maintain it’s traffic levels.

Regal Metrology is a Precision Measurement Systems company located in Louisville, KY. They had been in business for several years without a professional web presence. As they grew, this started to become a problem as more of their customers were starting to look more heavily online for their types of services.

They had been trying to build a website on their own, which is a noble thing to do for any business owner, but ended up not having the expertise to be able to do it well enough to represent their business. The result was that they somewhat embarrassed when their prospects asked to see their website for more information.

They came to me with this issue and I knew immediately that I wanted to help them.

I sat down with them, went over their requirements, and had them up and running with a brand new website in just a few weeks. They are now proud to show it off to their customers and are set up for success for the next several years of their business.

Louisville Metro Bankruptcy

Louisville Metro Bankruptcy is a law firm in Louisville, KY that provides credit counseling services and assistance with bankruptcy protection services. 

They started their website with a large agency, who did a very good job creating it initially, but over time the high recurring costs of the agency began to add up and no longer made sense for their business.

They came to me with the desire to switch their services to a local provider who would be much more fair to them financially and provide a more personalized level of service. Additionally, they wanted some blogging features and content update features that their current platform did not provide.

We built their website from the ground up on WordPress and swapped it over to our hosting services in just a few weeks. This situation is a perfect example of why Louisville Web Nerds was started in the first place, to provide personalized service without the high costs of an agency.
